Washing machine stops mid cycle? We fix it at your home
A machine that stops part way is protecting itself from a fault. It is usually water fill, draining, the heater or the door lock. We are a repair service. We come to your laundry and fix it.
Same day often available · 12 month warranty on our work · Price agreed before we start
What we usually find
These are the common reasons a machine stops.
Slow water fill
Blocked inlet screens or a weak inlet valve mean the machine waits and then gives up. We clean or replace them.
Drain fault
The machine cannot drain fast enough and stops. We clear or replace the pump.
Heater or temperature sensor
On warm washes, the machine waits for water to heat. A failed heater means it waits forever. We replace it.
Door lock fault
If the lock drops out during the cycle, the machine stops. We replace the lock.
Control board
Less common, but boards can fail part way through. We test before replacing.
What happens when we come out
You call or text
Tell us the brand, front or top loader, and what the machine is doing. We book a time that suits you.
We find the fault
The technician tests the machine in your laundry and tells you what is wrong in plain words.
You approve the price
You get the full price before we start. If it is not worth fixing, we tell you.
We fix it
Most repairs are done on the spot with parts from the van. Our work has a 12 month warranty.
Before you call
- Check both taps behind the machine are fully on.
- Note where in the cycle it stops and any code on the display.
Anything past these checks is a job for us. Please do not open the back or top of the machine, and never work on it while it is plugged in. Water and power do not mix, and a heavy drum can shift without warning.
Questions about this repair
Is it the power?
Rarely. If the lights stay on, it is almost always the machine protecting itself from a fault.
Why only on hot washes?
That often points to the heater or its sensor.
Can you tell from the code?
Often we can narrow it down. Tell us the code, brand and model when you call.
Other problems we fix
Not spinning
Clothes soaking wet at the end of the cycle.
Not draining
Water left in the drum after the wash.
Leaking water
Water on the laundry floor during or after a wash.
Terraces and older plumbing
Old taps, low pressure and tricky drains in inner city homes.
