What we usually find
The sound points us to the fault.
Roaring or rumbling on spin
Usually worn drum bearings. It gets louder over time. We tell you the price and whether it is worth doing.
Banging and walking across the floor
Worn shock absorbers or springs, or the machine is not level. We replace the parts and level it.
Grinding or scraping
Something caught between the drum and the tub, like a coin or bra wire. We remove it.
Loud hum when draining
The pump is blocked or worn. We clear or replace it.
Transit bolts left in
On a newly installed machine, shipping bolts left in cause violent shaking. We remove them.

We fix it
Most repairs are done on the spot with parts from the van. Our work has a 12 month warranty.
Before you call
- Check the machine sits flat and does not rock from corner to corner.
- Make sure nothing is stored on top of or beside the machine.
Anything past these checks is a job for us. Please do not open the back or top of the machine, and never work on it while it is plugged in. Water and power do not mix, and a heavy drum can shift without warning.
Questions about this repair
Is it safe to keep using it?
A machine that bangs hard or moves across the floor can damage itself and your laundry. Stop using it until it is checked.
Is it worth replacing bearings?
On a good quality machine, often yes. On a cheaper machine, the price can be close to a new one. We tell you before starting.
Why does it only bang with some loads?
Heavy single items like doonas and bath mats unbalance the drum. If every load bangs, parts are worn.
